Author Ghada Alatrash is a passionate voice for refugees and women from the Syrian conflict, both through her own book of short stories, Stripped to the Bone: Portraits of Syrian Women, and her translated collections of Arabic poems.
She has been profiled on CBC radio and on PBS and NPR in the U.S., was a WordFest performer in 2017, and has been a frequent public speaker with public institutions, organizations, and non-profit agencies. She has worked as a writer in the Middle East, has contributed her communications expertise to an anti-bullying campaign in Calgary, and has coordinated volunteers with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Calgary. She currently is a Doctoral student at the Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary.
